FAMILY Project launched “Family Day 2017”, inviting citizens to celebrate this festival together. This campaign aims at strengthening family cohesion and promoting FAMILY Health, Happiness and Harmony (3Hs).
To understand more about how Hong Kong people celebrate Mother’s Day and Family Day, the FAMILY Project announced the results of the territory-wide survey – “Hong Kong Family and Health Information Trends Survey” at the press conference today (25 April 2017). The survey interviewed over 2,000 Hong Kong people, and about 30 percent of the respondents reported that they would celebrate Family Day with their families. The most chosen family activities for celebrating Family Day was dining or eating with family, in which over 90 percent of the respondents indicated that they would dine or eat with their families, and over 80 percent of them chose outside rather than at home. Besides, the survey finds that having dinner with family could generate positive impacts on family communication time and quality, as well as FAMILY Health, Happiness and Harmony.
Speakers at the press conference were Ms. Imelda CHAN, The Hong Kong Jockey Club’s Head of Charities (Grant Making – Elderly, Rehabilitation, Medical, Environment and Family); and Professor LAM Tai Hing, Sir Robert Kotewall Professor in Public Health, Chair Professor of Community Medicine, School of Public Health, Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, HKU, and Principal Investigator of FAMILY Project.
