The goal of “Family Day @ Community” is to remind people to take more photos with their family members and enjoy the happy moments spent together, via different platforms. Furthermore, different workshops will be held to encourage people to design and make little gifts as an expression of love and gratitude to their family members.

The objective of the event is to encourage families to shop or dine together. Families can have more quality time to get along with each other, enhancing communication and relationship, as well as benefiting the retails and catering sectors. Professor Lam Tai Hing released the survey results on Hong Kong people’s support of Mother’s Day and Family Day and their celebration patterns. The FAMILY Project commissioned Action Power, a non-profit organisation, to conduct a survey from 1 to 22 April 2016. The organisation successfully interviewed 513 Hong Kong residents aged 18 or above through random telephone and online survey.

Summary of Survey Results

  • 97% Hong Kong people will celebrate this year’s Mother’s Day (8 May 2016)
  • 40% and 39% respectively will dine and shop with family members to celebrate Mother’s Day
  • 51% will celebrate Family Day (22 May 2016)
  • 48% and 25% respectively will dine and shop to celebrate Family Day
